Process Journal Entry #6:

Process Journal Entry #6: (October 20)

Today, I have make progress in my 3D sketches. I have finished 4 out of the 6 stations that need to be done.  The 3D sketches will allow me to visualize the constructions and to see if any other materials needed to be added and/ or equipped for the construction.

Apart from working on the 3D sketches, I have started my website which, will be my official format for the process journal. On the website, I will have all images, process journal entries, and 3D sketches included and videos of people utilizing the equipment. The website will be the “display” of the Project.  As seen aside, the website is still in a rudimentary phase and needs a lot of work. I will be working on this for the next couple of days in addition to beginning to collect my materials for the construction. Lastly, I will finish up the sketches in order to be able to put them onto the website.

Process Journal Entry #7: (October 28)

I have decided to switch the website in which I will be creating my website. Instead of using Google sites I will be using a website named wix.com. I find wix to be more user friendly than Google sites therefore facilitating the creation of the website.

As seen below, we have briefly started on our website. There are still quite a bit of work to do on the layout and imaging itself. As seen in the taskbar, there is a clear navigation to lead to different portions of the personal project. These headings include Process Journal, 3D sketches, and information about the Personal Project. In this website, I will be including all of my written work related to the Personal Project. This will be handed in in URL format for the teachers to assess at the end of March.  The website will be the “cover” of my personal project and therefore be essential in the final criteria.

Process Journal Entry #8: (November 15)

It has been a while since I have worked on my personal project because of recent exams and school stress. I will be working on my personal project over the break. Today, I have begun obtaining the equipment to start my physical product, the fitness course.  Currently, I have found the wood that I’ll be using. It is supplied at Carter’s, which is a hardware store in Barbados.

The reason that I chose Carter’s as my wood supplier is because of its discounts for amount of wood purchased and because the wood it provides is of good quality. I have opted to purchase cedar wood because it is resistant to outdoor weather and it is important for my construction to be weatherproof. My main problem currently is finding a location where I am able to purchased tires at a low price. All of the places where tires are sold in Barbados are expensive and new tires.  I am currently thinking about visiting the Barbados Recycling Centre to attempt to find tires for free which I can use for the tire run which will be incorporated in the fitness course.

Process Journal #9: (November 25)

I have been searching around the school for scrap materials that can be used for the fitness course. I am doing this because I am a big fan of recycling and I feel that everyone should be recycling especially in this era.

I find these materials to be easily reusable because they have the correct shape for the job. For example, the metal poles can be incorporated into my pull up bar which would save me time and money. There are no downsides in preforming this action because they are free and no one is utilizing them. In addition to this, I can use some of the wood leftover perhaps for the step-ups, which do not require as strong of a wood as other stations. Overall I feel that this was a great find for me and that it will help me make increased progress in my personal project.

Process Journal Entry #10

Process Journal Entry #10: (December 5)

In addition to the fitness course, I will be making signs to accompany them and tell individuals what the station is and how to use it. I have drawn inspiration from the signs shown previously of the Body Holiday Resort where they had neat signs that were clear and helped describe the station. This can be seen on the right from the sit up bench, which I will be doing.

I will be inserting my own twist on these signs however. I want the stands to be on a wooden pillar coming from the ground. The sign with the instructions will be placed on top of the pillar, which will be cut at a 45-degree angle. Lastly, in order to protect this from the weather, I will be putting a layer of transparent plastic on top of the instruction sheet, which will be connected to the piece of wood with nails. I will be drawing sketches for these signs in order to have the design already planned out and ready to be built. The wood that we will be using is the same as the fitness course. This wood is cedar because it is cheap and in addition to this, it is weather proof, which means that it will last even after we have built it.  These sketches can be seen below:
